MEET THE TEAM
Christy Innouvong-Thornton, RETREAT CHEF
Christy is a proud daughter of Lao Isan refugees, with a background in international development and non-profit management. She is the co-Founder and Deputy Director of Courageous Kitchen, a 501(c)(3) based in Bangkok, Thailand, and Founder of Tuk Tuk Box, a mission-driven brand that amplifies Southeast Asian food, community, and culture. Christy serves as the retreat’s chef, preparing Lao American fusion meals that nourish both body and soul!
Tina Meetran, RETREAT ASSISTANT
Tina is a Providence-based visual artist, children’s book author, and nonprofit leader who uses art, storytelling, and community building to advance equity and representation. With a background in watercolor, digital illustration, and nonprofit work, she’s best known for her debut Nana Makes Spring Rolls and her ongoing efforts to empower communities through culturally rooted education and leadership. Tina serves as the retreat assistant, managing all logistics and activity details to ensure everything flows smoothly for participants.
Aleena Inthaly, RETREAT BACI FACILITATOR
Aleena is a daughter of refugees from Savanakhet, Laos, and grew up in Virginia. She is passionate about building the resurgence of Lao cuisine and culture through a blend of philanthropy, culinary innovation, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. As the Director of the Lao Food Foundation and Events Curator for Chef Seng's Lao Food Movement, she leads groundbreaking initiatives including the Lao Food Festival in San Diego, partnering with communities to elevate and celebrate Lao culinary traditions nationwide, using food as a universal language. Aleena serves as the retreat’s baci ceremony facilitator, supporting participants in reconnecting with their spiritual and cultural roots.
April Limsana-Tran, RETREAT YOGI/MASSEUSE
April is a community healer, yoga/meditation instructor and massage therapist. She began her practice in healing during 2009, and in 2016 she gained her yoga certification from Karma Yoga. Since then, she has accumulated over 800 hours of practice, studying and teaching trauma-informed yoga and Ayurveda. April is also passionate about plant medicine, growing her own food and currently works at a legal cannabis production to ensure quality assurance. April serves as the retreat’s yogi and masseuse, guiding participants through embodied healing practices.
